In OC Foundation News

Friends of Olympic College Foundation,

I would like to use this portion of our monthly newsletter to amplify an ask from our friends in the OC Resource Center.

“Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh crayons in the morning? Or that nostalgic thrill of wandering store aisles stacked high with paper and pens of every color imaginable? Good news, you don’t need to be a kid or have a kid in school to enjoy that feeling again!

Thanks to the generous donations of community partners like you, the OC Resource Center supports students by providing school supplies. But right now, our shelves are running on empty, and fall quarter is creeping up fast!

We need your help to restock! Please consider tossing a few of these items into your cart the next time you’re out shopping:

  • College ruled paper and college ruled spiral notebooks
  • 1-inch binders (smaller and bigger ones work too!)
  • Pens, mechanical pencils and highlighters
  • Notecards and sticky notes
  • Composition books

As for regular pencils, we’re still fully stocked. In fact, we probably have enough to draw a line around the Earth … twice!

Should you want to shop from home, here’s our address so you can mail items directly to us:

Olympic College Resource Center

1600 Chester Ave. Building 4, Room 104

Bremerton, WA 98337-1699

You can drop donations off in Building 4, Room 104 (or come say hi and drop them off with us in the Foundation in Building 5, Room 300) Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.”

Thank you for your support of OC students by considering the purchase of needed school supplies. See you at the store, friends!

In gratitude for your partnership,

Student Gratitude

To the Thomas Graham Family and to whom it may concern,

student thank you card

I wanted to express my gratitude for the generosity of this scholarship. I had been very nervous to come back to school,

believing it was not for me. I didn’t believe that I could handle a degree in science, but I wanted to try. On top of my worries with taking the classes, I was worried about how I would pay for it, and finding a job to do so. When I received the scholarship, I was both shocked and relieved! I thought I had a small chance at a partial scholarship, but this paid for my entire year at OC.

This semester has been better than I thought it could be. Taking chemistry and biology at the same time proved to be not nearly as daunting as I thought it would be, because I had the time to study, and the mental capacity to focus on school. Previously in my chem and bio classes, I struggled to pass with a C. Now, I have a B+ in my chem class and bio class! I am so so grateful! And so excited to continue taking classes that challenge me, because I continuously prove to myself that I can do it, it allows me to follow my plans and my dreams. I am still working on my private pilots license, healing my back and my mental health, but school has gotten more manageable than I ever thought it could be, allowing me to heal and focus on some of the challenges in my life.

Thank you so much for setting me up for success, I am so grateful I was chosen.
